How Does The Canadian Dental Care Plan Work?
We direct bill Sun Life for services provided on a claim-by-claim basis, with proof of coverage from your Sun Life insurance card. This allows us to continue to treat our patients to the fullest extent while alleviating the majority of the financial investment in dental services.
All CDCP patients of Linden Market Dental will be responsible for paying any and all potential remaining amounts directly to our office. Sun Life will never reimburse a CDCP patient and will only reimburse providers for services covered under the CDCP.
Before attending your dental appointment, we will require the following proof in order to provide services:
- Confirm Patient eligibility for the CDCP.
- Confirm the patient is covered for the select services and at what percentage.

CDCP Fees
CDCP fees differ from those set out in provincial and territorial suggested fee guides, that providers use to change for oral health services. Please be prepared to cover any cost differences between the CDCP fee guide and the current Manitoba fee guide.
Are You Covered?
Individuals are ineligible for the CDCP if they already have access to coverage other than from a federal, provincial or territorial social dental program.
Private Insurance
There will be no coordianation with private, employer or other such plans.

Canadian Dental Care Plan FAQs
Does Linden Market Dental accept CDCP patients in Winnipeg?
Yes. We welcome patients covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan and submit eligible claims directly to Sun Life. Please contact our Winnipeg office before booking so we can confirm your coverage is active and review any expected out-of-pocket costs.
Who qualifies for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Generally, you must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes, have filed your tax return (and your spouse’s or common-law partner’s return, if applicable), have adjusted family net income under $90,000, and not have access to private dental insurance. Eligibility is determined by Service Canada, not the dental office.
What dental services does the CDCP cover?
Coverage can include exams, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride, fillings, certain root canal treatments, dentures and some oral surgery services. Limits and clinical criteria apply, and some treatments require preauthorization. Our team will review your proposed treatment and available CDCP benefits before care.
Is dental care completely free with the CDCP?
Not always. The CDCP pays a portion of eligible services at its established fees. Depending on family income, you may have a co-payment, and you are responsible for any difference between the CDCP fee and our current Manitoba fee, as well as services the plan does not cover. We will explain estimated costs before treatment.
What should I bring to my first CDCP appointment?
Bring your CDCP member card or Sun Life coverage details, photo identification, and an up-to-date medication and medical history. If you have recent dental X-rays or records from another clinic, ask for them to be forwarded to us. Your CDCP coverage must be active on the date of service.
Can Linden Market Dental check my coverage and bill the CDCP directly?
Yes. With your Sun Life member information, we can verify coverage for planned services and submit eligible claims directly to Sun Life. Verification is not a guarantee of payment; final coverage follows CDCP rules, frequency limits and any required preauthorization. You pay any remaining balance directly to our clinic.
